We’re a small, year-round Microschool serving students in PreK through 2nd grade, where children receive a strong academic foundation in a nurturing, personalized learning environment. Each class is led by a certified teacher and designed to support meaningful academic growth while recognizing that children learn best when they have opportunities to move, explore, create, and engage with the world around them.

At Murray Meadow Academy, we believe children thrive when high-quality academics are paired with smaller class sizes, meaningful relationships, hands-on learning, and time spent outdoors. While our curriculum is aligned with South Carolina standards and provides a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, we deliver learning in a way that is more flexible, engaging, and developmentally appropriate than many traditional school settings.

Our students spend their days learning through literature, math, writing, science investigations, creative projects, collaborative learning experiences, outdoor exploration, and real-world connections. We intentionally incorporate movement throughout the day, limit the use of technology, and provide opportunities for children to learn both indoors and outdoors.

MY WHY

Hi, I’m Alex! I’m a mom of two, and my oldest is just reaching school age. Like many parents, I started looking at our options and realized that traditional public and private schools didn’t feel like the right fit for our family. I wanted something more flexible, more nurturing - a place where my daughter can learn in a way that supports who she is, not just what she can do. While I love the idea of homeschooling, I knew I couldn’t do it all on my own. That’s why I’m opening a Microschool - a warm learning environment led by certified school teachers who are stepping out of the traditional system to teach in a more meaningful way.

Our vision is to build something small but special - a space that feels like home, where kids are known, supported, and free to learn in ways that make sense for them. We’re starting with enrollment for PreK-2nd grade, and hope to grow naturally with like-minded families who want something different too!

Murray Meadow Academy is proud to welcome families to our established campus in the heart of Summerville. Our school was thoughtfully designed to feel warm, welcoming, and inspiring - a place where children can build strong academic foundations while enjoying the freedom to move, explore, create, and grow. Every aspect of our campus reflects our belief that children thrive when they feel safe, known, and connected to their learning environment.

Our learning spaces are intentionally designed to support both academic success and whole-child development:

Elementary classrooms that foster strong academics, creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
A nurturing PreK enrichment classroom thoughtfully created for our youngest learners.
Flexible enrichment spaces that support art, STEM activities, sensory experiences, movement, project-based learning, and small-group instruction.
Small class sizes that allow teachers to provide individualized support and build meaningful relationships with each student.

Beyond the classroom, students have daily opportunities to learn, play, and explore outdoors:

A safe outdoor patio and gathering space for lessons, activities, and community events.
A fully fenced outdoor play and exploration area beneath beautiful oak trees.
Water tables and sensory stations that encourage hands-on discovery and cooperative learning.
Exploration tables designed for science investigations, nature studies, creative projects, and inquiry-based learning.
Natural play features, including oak stepping stones, climbing areas, and movement spaces that promote confidence, balance, coordination, and imaginative play.
Outdoor seating areas for reading, small-group instruction, projects, snack time, and classroom activities.
Gardening, nature exploration, and outdoor learning experiences that complement and enrich classroom instruction.

At Murray Meadow Academy, we believe children do not need to spend their entire day seated at a desk to receive an excellent education. By combining strong academics with movement, outdoor experiences, hands-on learning, and meaningful relationships, we create an environment where children are engaged, challenged, and excited to learn every day.
