Welcome to Murray Meadow Academy!

We’re a small, year-round nature-inspired Microschool for grades K–5th, where learning extends beyond the walls of a traditional classroom. Each small K- 5th class is led by a certified elementary teacher and designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, confidence, and meaningful academic growth through hands-on, engaging experiences. One of the things that makes Murray Meadow Academy unique is our belief that children thrive when meaningful academics and nature-based learning exist together. We deeply value outdoor exploration, movement, creativity, and hands-on experiences, while also maintaining a strong commitment to high-quality, age-appropriate academics. Our students spend time both inside and outside throughout the day - learning through literature, math, science, writing, nature studies, creative projects, sensory experiences, and real-world exploration.

Our mission is to create a nurturing, personalized learning environment where children are encouraged to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively. As a small, student-centered Microschool, we believe childhood should be filled with wonder, movement, exploration, and meaningful connection to the natural world. We combine thoughtful academics with hands-on learning, outdoor experiences, and social-emotional growth to help students build confidence, courage, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. We strive to meet each child where they are while creating a space where they feel safe, inspired, capable, and deeply known!

MY WHY

Hi, I’m Alex! I’m a mom of two, and my oldest is just reaching school age. Like many parents, I started looking at our options and realized that traditional public and private schools didn’t feel like the right fit for our family. I wanted something more flexible, more nurturing — a place where my daughter can learn in a way that supports who she is, not just what she can do. While I love the idea of homeschooling, I knew I couldn’t do it all on my own. That’s why I’m opening a certified Microschool — a warm learning environment led by certified elementary school teachers who are stepping out of the traditional system to teach in a more meaningful way.

Our vision is to build something small but special — a space that feels like home, where kids are known, supported, and free to learn in ways that make sense for them. We’re starting with enrollment for K-5th, and hope to grow naturally with like-minded families who want something different too!

ABOUT OUR LOCATION

Murray Meadow Academy is proud to welcome families to our established, nature-inspired campus in the heart of Summerville. Our school was thoughtfully created to feel warm, peaceful, and inspiring — a place where children can learn deeply, explore freely, and feel truly at home. From our cozy classrooms to our outdoor learning spaces beneath the oak trees, every part of our campus was designed with connection, curiosity, and childhood in mind.

Our learning spaces are intentionally small, calm, and welcoming:

- Elementary classrooms designed to support creativity, collaboration, hands-on learning, and focused academic growth.

- A nurturing 3–4 year old enrichment space thoughtfully created for our youngest learners.

- Flexible enrichment and creative spaces for art, movement, sensory experiences, nature studies, and project-based learning.

Outside, students are encouraged to move, imagine, create, and explore:

- A safe outdoor patio and gathering space for play, learning, and community activities.

- A fully fenced play and exploration area under beautiful mature oak trees, designed to inspire curiosity, adventure, and connection with nature.

- Water tables and sensory exploration stations that encourage hands-on discovery and collaborative play.

- Exploration tables for nature studies, creative projects, and open-ended learning experiences.

- Natural oak stepping stones, climbing areas, and movement spaces that support confidence, balance, coordination, and imaginative play.

- Outdoor seating and gathering spaces designed for learning, reading, projects, snack time, and meaningful connection outside the traditional classroom.

- Outdoor environments that encourage gardening, creativity, problem-solving, movement, and nature-inspired learning experiences.
